Did you know off-ice training is important for skaters of all levels? Consider adding TPC's CIFSC training to your skater's Spring schedule! This class is 6:30-7:30 on Thursdays at TPC starting 1/8. The skaters currently enrolled are really enjoying it and improving so much on and off the ice! Reach out to Meghan today for more information (president@ci-fisc.org). This class is designed for all levels of skaters age 8 and older.
Did you or your skater LOVE the ice show? In the Spring, we are looking to introduce performance teams!!!! These groups will perform at things like open skates Bison Games, and potentially even prepare for some competitions! Based on interest, the coaches have developed the following options:
Bloomington Pops (JAM Members and Full Members who are Basic Skills competition levels) - Tuesday's through the BIC 5-5:30 starting in January; Performs for Open Skate, and may perform for Bloomington Competition and for our Summer Exhibition! Sign up will be through BIC (register here).
Production Teams (Full Members Aspire 1 and above) - The groups will be determined based on the levels of the skates that sign up, and could change to support multiple groups throughout the season. Pricing will be shared soon! We expect the following performance opportunities, and the ability for skaters to sign up in 2-month increments or for the full season.
Bison Game 2/20 - Rehearses Mondays during Club Ice in January 19 - February 15 9 (5 weeks). Information about sign up for this will come via email to full members next week!

Also - we ask that each family volunteer at least 2 shifts for the competition, as well as help provide food for our hospitality room. This competition brings in 250 people from across the country and raises significant funds that help support our Club events, including Club Ice. Your help makes this event possible!!!!
Summer Exhibition - Expected to be the weekend of 6/20-21. More information will come soon!
CIFSC Needs YOU!
As a non-profit, we are reliant upon volunteers to run all of our events and donations/fundraising to fund our offerings and keep costs as low as possible for our members! Did you know that every hour of Club Ice costs our club $299? We would LOVE to expand our club ice offerings to provide more late ice options, and to do that we need to fundraise! We would LOVE to have you help! Here are some things we are looking for:
Donations & Fundraising
Do you have a working device (tablet or phone) that you aren’t using? We are looking for a device for the club to play music during freestyle and club ice, so that skaters can play their own music without having to use CD’s. Contact Meghan at president@ci-fsc.org if you have a device to donate!
Planning Committees
March Magic Planning Committee - This is our practice competition on March 1 from 3-6. Looking for people to plan the event, set up, and clean up!
Excel and Beyond Competition Planning - This competition annually raises about $8,000 to support our skaters for things like Club Ice and all of our events. We are looking for people to help organize logistics, volunteer needs, and other tasks.
End of year awards party & annual meeting planning - This year, we would like to host an awards party & dinner, along with having our annual meeting of the Club. We would like to target late May/early June for this event, so that we can recognize our seniors, celebrate skating accomplishments, share relevant club updates, and hold any elections that are needed for the Club. We are seeking volunteers who would be willing to organize this fun event!
Summer Exhibition Planning Committee - Last year this event raised almost $2,000 to support club ice and other events! We are thinking of expanding this event into more of a fundraising event, along with on-ice seating! This year, we have a goal of raising $5,000 to help expand our club ice offerings. We are looking for passionate and creative volunteers who can help take this event to the next level!
BIC News
Don’t forget to register for Winter and Spring programming at the BIC!
Is your skater thinking about taking their first or second skating skills test to join our Wall of Fame? Blades 5/6 and above skaters are encouraged to register for the Skating Skills 3-week class offered in January! This will focus on learning and mastering the patterns that are part of the first 2 skating skills tests. If your goal is to take your first test in our February test session, this is a GREAT way to review and focus on skating skills with friends!!!!
Competition Corner
Get excited for the 2026 competition season! Below is the information that was reviewed at our competition season meetings in December:
The coaches have worked together to create a list of competitions that at least 1 coach is going to this Spring/Summer. Depending on your schedule and competition track, you can go to any of these competitions, even if your coach is not available. We will have a CIFSC coach that can put you on the ice and make your experience great!
Save the date for our Spring Skaters Showcase/Mock Competition called the March Magic will be held on March 1st from 3-6, in the Arena. This is a great opportunity to practice your routines under pressure at a low cost!!!
Basic Skills Competition Levels (Snowplow Sam, Basic 1-6, not competing with jumps/spins) - We reviewed a lot of information about going to your first competition, as well as the difference between larger multi-day competitions, and Compete USA competitions that are generally 1 day. If you are Basic Skills, highly recommend that you register for the Learn to Compete class offered by the BIC, since Coach Lindsay does LOTS of parent education to help you through registering for your first competition.
Aspire, Introductory, Excel, Championship Track, and Showcase - There were LOTS of changes this season! Check out this document that Coach Rachael created that has lots of important information!
