Aim Higher with Aspire!
Training
Once your skater has progressed to Basic 6/Jump & Spin, it’s time to think about next steps in competing and testing! Your skater should already be taking private lessons from a LTS Instructor or Accredited Coach. At this point, it is highly recommended that Aspire skaters begin taking lessons from USFS Accredited Coaches (either in addition to a LTS Instructor or instead of a LTS Instructor) so they can continue developing skating skills, jumps, and spins, and find the coach that aligns with their skating goals.
Aspire Skaters training should include group off-ice training, on-ice training, private lessons, and individual practice time. Central Illinois FSC and the Bloomington Ice Center offers numerous group training opportunities to support our Aspire Skaters!
COMPETING
Aspire Skaters have lots of opportunities to compete! Talk to your coach about upcoming competitions!

TESTING
This is also the time to start thinking about testing and full USFS Membership! What are figure skating tests? US Figure Skating uses testing to place skaters in competitive levels after basic skills, and to provide skaters with the ability to progress towards becoming what is called a “Figure Skating Gold Medalist”. Becoming a “gold medalist” is a tremendous accomplishment and takes years of hard work and dedication! We celebrate our skaters test accomplishments through our testing awards board! Check out the board next time you are at the Bloomington Ice Center!
For Aspire level skaters, the goal is to be able get your name on the board for both Skating Skills and Singles, and to pass at least two Skating Skills tests (Pre-Preliminary and Preliminary) and the first Singles test (Pre-Preliminary) before moving onto the next competitive level.
Once skaters have passed the Preliminary Skating Skills test, they are eligible for our Advanced Training Programs and can attend Advanced Club Ice on Mondays!
