Competitive Levels

There are multiple competitions that our skaters are attending over the course of the season, depending on the teams they are part of, what events their coaches are taking skaters to, and the competition levels. Here is an overview of the types of competitions:

  • Compete USA Competitions offer Basic Skills and Introductory Levels only. These competitions do NOT offer IJS or CJS scoring, and cannot be used for Excel Series or Showcase National qualification.

  • Bigger competitions can offer many different events, at multiple levels, including: Basic Skills, Introductory, Showcase, Excel Track, and Championship Track events.

  • High School Team Competitions are separate, and can offer Team and Solo events.

Here is an overview of the types of events:

  • Basic Skills - Competing Snowplow Sam to Basic 6 (not competing with jumps/spins)

  • Introductory - Competing Aspire 1-4, Excel Pre-Preliminary or Pre-Preliminary. This is jumps/spins up through the single axel jump. Introductory levels can compete in the Excel Series Open Events.

  • Adult Track - this includes basic skills, introductory, and/or Adult Nationals events.

  • Excel Track - Preliminary Plus to Senior (single Axel and above)

  • Championship Track - Preliminary to Senior (2 double jumps and above)

  • Showcase Track - Preliminary skating skills and above skaters can compete for an opportunity to compete at a national event held in late July/early August.

  • High School Team - High School members who compete as a team on specific maneuvers.

  • Production Team - Skaters work together for duets/trios/small groups to compete together

February

  • February 14th - The Freeze - Glenview, IL - Compete USA Event (Basic Skills/Introductory Levels only - Free Skate/Athlete Development events offered)

  • February 15th - High School Team Competition (Team Only) - Oakton, IL

  • February 22 - 815 Classic - Rockford, IL - Compete USA Event (Basic Skills/Introductory levels only - Free Skate/Athlete Development/Showcase events offered)

March

  • March 1 from 3-6 PM - CIFSC Mock Competition in Bloomington, IL

  • March 15 - High School Team Competitions (Team & Solo) - Crystal Lake, IL

  • March 22 - Glenview, IL - Shamrock Shuffle - Compete USA (Basic Skills/Introductory Levels only)

  • March 27-29 - Davenport, IA - Quad Cities Victory Skate (Potential for Heartland Series) - Basic Skills/Introductory/Excel Series/Showcase Nationals/Adult Events

  • March 27-29 - High School Team Sectional Finals (Team & Solo) - Fort Wayne, IN

April

  • April 11 - Peoria, IL - Spring Thaw (Potential for Heartland Series) - Compete USA (Basic Skills/Introductory Levels only)

  • April 11-12 - High School Team Illinois Finals (Team and Solo) - TBD

  • April 23-26 - Orlando Park, IL - 51st Annual Ladybug Competition - Introductory/Solo Dance/Excel Series

May

  • May 1-3 - Bloomington, IL - CIFSC Excel and Beyond (Potential for Heartland Series) - Basic Skills/Introductory/Excel Series/Showcase Nationals/Adult/Production Team

  • May 29-31 - Carmel, IN - Metro Indy Skating Challenge - Basic Skills/Introductory/Excel Series/Showcase Nationals/Adult Events
